Rain Expected; Potential for Flooding Exist (Updated)

10:25 p.m.: Bucks County Forecast To Receive Heavy Rain and Possible Flooding

The National Weather Service is forecasting two to four inches of rain starting Wednesday night, through the day Thursday, ending Friday morning.  Predicted heaviest periods will be 12 a.m. Thursday into Thursday morning rush hour, with occasional heavy periods throughout the day Thursday.

Flood watches are in effect.  The Neshaminy Creek at Langhorne is forecast to crest at approximately 7:00 a.m., Friday March 11th.

The Delaware River is expected to crest above flood stage in Bucks County starting at 1:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12th.

The National Weather Service along with the Bucks County Emergency Management Agency advises all residents to monitor later forecasts and be alert for flood warnings.  If you live in an area prone to flooding you should be prepare to take action should flooding develop, including making necessary preparations today.  If you experienced flooding earlier in the week, you should prepare for additional flooding during this upcoming rain event.  All travelers are advised to be cautious while driving and never drive your car through standing water.

8:01 p.m.: Heavy rain which could total up to nearly four inches is expected to begin to hit the region and could bring flooding conditions starting sometime tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Bucks and Montgomery counties, the watch will begin Thursday morning and continue through Friday morning.

Flood levels have the potential to reach the same highs that the area saw after the aftermath of 2004’s Hurricane Ivan and could linger into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

River flooding is a major concern for those who live along the Delaware River which is expected to reach flood levels, according to local media reports.

“With all the precip. on the way, don’t drive thru moving water or if u can’t see the bottom. Turn around, don’t drown!,” stated a Tweet put out by PennDOT around mid-day.
