Borough Manager May Leave Post in Hatboro

Hatboro Borough Manager Tommy Ryan confirmed rumors of his possible resignation Tuesday.

Resident Ron Battis questioned borough Council Monday on the rumors he heard that Ryan was leaving Hatboro, but council Vice President Nancy Guenst said that she had not received an official letter of resignation and had no comment on the issue.

“His announcement of that will be at our March meeting,” Guenst said.

“I’ve been offered a conditional offer as the township manager in West Bradford Township, Chester County,” Ryan said Tuesday.

The West Bradford Board of Supervisors will consider Ryan’s appointment at its March 8 meeting, he said.

If the board appoints him, Ryan said he would “make the move” in the following week or two.

In April 2010, Ryan took over Hatboro’s borough manager position from police Chief James Gardener.

“I’m pleased. I’m thankful for the opportunity,” Ryan said of his work for Hatboro.

Though Ryan said that there have been “differences noted” while working with council, council President Marianne Reymer and Guenst have been “tremendous” and “supportive” of him and his time as borough manager.

“I couldn’t have asked for anything more from those two individuals and I would like to thank them for that,” he said.

“I believe Hatboro is a better place because of their efforts and I’ve been privileged to work with them,” Ryan said of Reymer and Guenst.
