The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has forced a Upper Southampton based internet web seller to stop selling a weight loss capsule because it contains a  undeclared drug ingredient that has been linked to heart failure and stroke.

The FDA says that Shaping Beauty, Inc., which on its website says it offers a “variety of natural weight loss and health beauty products”, sold the Celerite Slimming Capsules. The capsules contain sibutramine which is appetite suppressant which has not been approved by the FDA.

Sibutramine has been known in some cases to “increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate and may present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias or stroke,” according to a FDA press release.

At this time no injures or illness has been linked to the Celerite Slimming Capsules sold by Shaping Beauty, Inc.

According to the feds Shaping Beauty, Inc. has cooperated with them during the recall process.

The FDA says in its release that Shaping Beauty, Inc. “sincerely regrets any inconvenience to customers.”

The FDA urges consumers who purchased this product to return it to the company’s mail address: Shaping Beauty, Inc. P.O. Box 1032 Southampton, PA 18966 or call them at 1-800-728-2850.
