Police have charged a Northampton Township man after he pulled a handgun and fired a warning shot after a neighbor walked with his dogs in front of his home last Monday evening.

Ronald Trout, 66, of Northampton was arrested by police after they received a call about a possible assault that involved a handgun.

When police arrived at Deer Path Drive and Frog Hallow Road in the Churchville section of Northampton, they spoke with the victim who said that he was walking his dogs when Trout confronted him about walking out front of his home. The victim also told police that Trout fired the gun once into the ground.

The victim punched Trout in the face and left the area after Trout allegedly brandished a handgun, said police.

Trout followed the man to his home and sprayed him with pepper spray while he went to make entry into his home.

Trout was released on $75,00 bail and charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and possession of an instrument of crime.
