UPDATE 1/28/11: Man Sought in Warminster Stabbing Arrested at Jersey Shore

Justin Gilroy

A vehicle police believe Gilroy stole from Upper Moreland was discovered in the Cape May, New Jersey area around 5 a.m. this morning.

Police in Lower Township, N.J. searched the area after the car that was thought to be stolen by the suspect was found in the township. Lower Township police could not locate Gilroy.

Gilroy’s last known address was in a motel located in Rio Grande, which is located in southern New Jersey.

Family members say that Gilroy attacked his ex-girlfriend who is the mother of his child at her parent’s home located on Hart Street in the Warminster Heights section of Warminster around 7 p.m. last night.

The victim, whose name police are not releasing at this time, was discharged from Abington Memorial Hospital last night, said family. She received 30 stitches and suffered injuries to her head, face and hands, police said in a press release.

Investigators believe that Gilroy burst through the door of the corner home and attacked the victim and members of her family with a kitchen knife.

Information gathered from police and a relative indicate that the attack stemmed from an earlier argument between Gilroy and his ex-girlfriend.

Gilroy is then said to have exited the home after family and friends intervened. Gilroy then slashed his neck and also a portion of his arm near his wrist, said family of the victim late Wednesday night. A substantial amount of blood was said to be lost by Gilroy. Police used blood and foot prints in the snow to try to piece together where the suspect was headed last night.

Police searched the neighborhoods surrounding the location of the stabbing using officers armed with rifles, police dogs and a Philadelphia Police Helicopter but could not locate Gilroy. A police K9 tracked Gilroy’s scent to County Line and Davisville roads.

Gilroy is suspected to have stolen a car from the parking lot of the Body Dynamics’s Gym in Upper Moreland about two hours after the stabbing.

Warminster police say that Gilroy is still on the lam and they are working with cops in New Jersey to try to locate him.

Police say that Gilroy is 6 foot, 4 inches tall, 179 pounds, has tattoos on both of his arms and has lacerations on his arms and neck.

Warrants out for Gilroy’s arrest charge him with aggravated assault, burglary (both felonies), criminal trespass, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another and possession of an instrument of crime.

If you see Gilroy or know of his location call police at 9-1-1.
