Catherine Anne Amon (Northampton Township Police Department)

Northampton Police say homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and driving under the influence of alcohol/controlled substance are two of 17 charges that an Upper Southampton woman is facing after being arrested in the New Year’s Day crash that killed her boyfriend.

Catherine Anne Amon, 43 of the 400 block of Maple Avenue in Upper Southampton was arrested by Northampton Police this morning and was arraigned by Judge Daniel J. Finello Jr. of the Warminster District Court. Amon is being held on $500,000 bail in county jail.

Police now confirm what BuxMontNews.com exclusively reported hours after the January 1 crash that the Amon was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol when the deadly East Bristol Road crash occurred. Detective Sergent Bill Klein of the Northampton Police Department confirmed that Amon was under the influence of cocaine, marijuana and alcohol at the time of the crashed that  killed her boyfriend Raymond Bloemker, 40, of Upper Southampton.

The crash occurred minutes after 6:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of East Bristol Road west of Murray Road in the Churchville section of Northampton. Police said that the Mazda 6 driven by the intoxicated Amon veered off the road and struck three trees before stopping.

Police confirm that Amon had previous run-ins with authorities and was involved in a DUI crash last year that killed her boyfriend at the time. Klein confirms that Amon was involved in a deadly incident in Upper Southampton in 2009 which killed her then boyfriend.

Amon was charged with DUI in Middletown in April of 2009 and also faced charges of intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person who is not registered. Amon was also charged with DUI and speeding in January 1991.

Buxmont news- you should get your stories straight. What happened in 2009 wasn’t a deadly crash. There was no crash. A man who was riding with her died. I don’t believe that anyone knows exactly what happened that night except for the two of them. I’m not trying to defend her on this but no one was charged of any crime in this incident. Those are the facts as far as I know.

This is what I know, and You are right it was not a deadly car accident per say. Cathy & Frank were on their way home from a night out when Frank decided he wanted to go back and Cathy would not turn around for him, so Frank jumped out of the moving car, and so Cathy turned around to see if he was ok, and he was so she left. Frank was later found beaten and dead, which means he was probably robbed

@friend of the deceased: According to Northampton Police and local fire department members we talked too yes it was a deadly crash.

Life in prison is what she should get. Raymond”s daughters will go through a lifetime without their father. When they graduate he will not be there, when they get married he will not walk them down the isle.

Does anyone know the true details of the 2009 accident?

Yes. The man who died..jumped out of her vehicle while she was driving. Sustained a head injury..and crawled into the backseat of a car at a house nearby….and died as a result of the injury. There was no crash. I know the man who died..he was nice but a little crazy.. He prob got mad and jumped out because he wasn’t getting his way. It is a great shame to have lost him..and a bigger shame to have lost ray. It is a shame to go back and forth. People have died . We should be respectful and wish the families of the deceased closure. I’m sorry to hear what happened and I am sure Kathy will never forget that day.

I am a friend of both Cathy & Rays, and I was very sorry to hear about what happened when Cathy called me.

Ray was truly a good person & a great pool player he will be missed by many.

Both Cathy & Ray left the house that night perfectly sober knowing they both had a pending DUI and Suspended license so the blame can’t be pinned on just one of them. If Cathy was not driving Ray would have been because he was the one that always drove when they were out together.

Cathy does not deserve life in prison and I don’t think that’s what Ray would want considering he loved her, but I do agree Cathy deserves a punishment, and that’s what she is doing right now.

I also believe the girl who let them sit at her house for hours drinking, smoking pot & doing cocaine should also be punished. When you have that kind of party on New Years or anytime for that matter, you usually take peoples keys away so they can’t leave stoned & get into an accident like they did.

The host is responsibility for the guests they invite into their home especially when they serve alcohol & drugs especial when the host was well aware of the suspended licenses they both had because of DUI’s and still didn’t take the keys away.

If the keys were taken away Ray would be here with us today, and Cathy would not be sitting in jail.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Ray’s children

If Kathy had stayed home on New Year’s Eve or had a designated driver, Ray would be alive. She made the choice to go out, drink, do drugs, and drive while under a DUI suspended license. You can’t blame that on the party’s host. What if the host had taken the key? Kathy could have had a spare key and left anyway. There wasn’t much short of tying them up and duct taping them both that could have prevented what happened. They’re not children, but grown adults who made a very bad, tragic choice that morning.

I just want to say they both made the choice to go out that night, and they were both a prior DUI and neither one of them had a valid license. Ray was not innocent to this he also made the choice.

I am not trying to defend Cathy but you need to realize they made the choice together, and when they left the house in the start of the night Ray was the driver of the car.

They didn’t bring the alcohol or the drugs to the house that was supplied to them by the host, who had told the police they were drinking at her house, and she gave them cocaine and that they also smoked pot. Why the girl would say that to the police is beyond me but she did, and from what I understand she will be facing some charges.

Yes Cathy should have know better than to get behind the wheel of the car but she was obviously stoned, and not in her right mind, and the host also should have known to take the keys from two people who were obviously too drunk to drive, but I guess the host was too stoned to care.

Ray was a good guy, and I am sure Cathy wishes it was her and not him but the good lord made the choice of the person he wanted to take.

We should be grateful he went happy and painless! R.I.P Ray!

Are we sure the accident killed him and not the drugs and alcohol?

  9. January 17, 2011 at 7:18 AM

From what first responders told me the injuries he sustained from the accident killed him.

was he wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident & did the air bag go off. Those two things could have saved a life

The coroner told a detective it appeared he was based on the busies he had on his body.

The host pf the party should be held responsible also. How can you say they left the house sober, when her alcohol level was almost twice the leagal level

    • Anonymous
      January 18, 2011 at 10:03 AM

1st of all I said they left home sober when they both made the choice to go out.

The host of the party is responsible for giving them the drugs and, alcohol and not taking the keys away. You simply don’t invite people over let them get so drunk they cant think clearly, and then give them the keys to drive.

Without keys no one could have driven! No accident! No Death!

They didn’t even have to be drunk for this accident to happen they slid on ice it could have turned out the same way even if they were straight.

Let Ray R.I.P, & let Cathy deal with what happened because she is in jail now and will pay the price for what happened. She will be living with this for the rest of her life and that alone is a rough punishment.

I don’t personally know the name of the girl but I am sure it will be in the paper soon enough because I think she is facing some charges. I never asked but I will see if I can find out the name.
