Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, who has pledged to repeal the Democrats’ health care reform law, heard from his constituents Monday night about their desires for health care.

In no particular order, here’s what they’d like to see: control the cost of pharmaceuticals, doctors and insurance companies; replace the legislation in a transparent way; become a champion for the public option; make insurance companies cover us and fix how they operate; totally privatize the system but make it affordable; support a single-payer system.

More than 200 8th District constituents – split about equally for and against the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act – listened to a mostly tame discourse for 90 minutes in the Bucks County Courthouse. The crowd was so large on this frosty January night it pushed Fitzpatrick’s second town hall event in eight days from the community room to a large first-floor courtroom.

Prior to the gathering, Fitzpatrick organized a 30-minute prayer service for the victims of the Arizona shooting in which several local religious leaders of different denominations spoke.
