U. Southampton Considers New Cell Tower

December 31, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

Supervisors in Upper Southampton will consider proposals to construct a cell phone tower that would provide better service to township residents.

“We don’t have good coverage. A lot of people don’t get service in the township. We’re looking to address the weak spots,” said Supervisor Marguerite Genesio.

Two companies interested in building a cell tower approached the township for an informal meeting recently.

Michael Shine of Antietam Wireless Services LLC in King of Prussia said his company wants to gauge the township’s interest in a cell tower at Bristol Pike and Second Street Pike. Antietam’s tower would accommodate several cell service providers in a desirable location, and Upper Southampton would gain financially by leasing township property to Antietam to build the tower, Shine said.

Doylestown-based TowerOne Partners also proposed a tower construction. Nick Pullen told the supervisors that his company would build a tower with no cost to the township.
