Upper Moreland Police Stop Solicitors

Police in Upper Moreland stopped three non-permitted men who were soliciting a local rug cleaning business, Wednesday afternoon, in the Willow Grove section of the township.

Chief of Police Thomas Nestel said that the three males were soliciting residents in the Abbeyview Avenue neighborhood which is near Upper Moreland’s police headquarters.

A resident called 9-1-1 to report the solicitors, police responded and stopped the men. The trio told the responding officers they were hired to go door-to-door by a local rug cleaning business.

Police told the rug cleaning business they needed to get a soliciting permit through the township to solicit and released the men with a warning that they could not sell the businesses services without a permit.

Nestel thanked the alert neighbor who alerted police and asked citizens to “please keep up the good work.”
