A 49-year-old man from the Richboro section of Northampton township that was charged in October for the attempted murder his wife in a hot tub at their house on Edwards Drive has struck a plea deal with county prosecutors.

The accused, Jim Wang, waived his right to a preliminary hearing that was scheduled for yesterday and in exchange prosecutors withdrew the criminal homicide charge said court documents.

Wang is still be prosecuted for the aggravated assault charge which is a felony and also possible instrument of crime with intent which is a misdemeanor.

Wang tried to kill his estranged wife with a hammer, ashtray and porcelain cup as they met in their hot tub after a two week separation in October of this year.

Luckily for the victim his wife, Caixa “Carrie” Zhu, his attempts to kill her failed.

After his failed attempts to kill his wife he swallowed 50 sleeping pills and had to be rushed to the hospital shortly after police took him into custody.

In the October attack Zhu was able to escape her husband and fled to St. Mary’s hospital.

After she arrived at the hospital, staff called Northampton police who went to the upscale neighborhood located off Hatboro Road.

When police got to the home they spoke to Wang and spotted blood, they took him to the police station where he started vomiting and admitted to taking 50 sleeping pills.

After spending two days in the hospital Wang was released from St. Mary’s and his bail was set at $1,000,000.

His next court date will be January 7, 2011 in Doylestown at the county court house.
