Upper Moreland: Taxes Up Close to 15%

December 7, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

Last night the board of supervisors in Upper Moreland voted to raise residents taxes by nearly 14 percent in 2011.

The 13.5 percent tax hike is to help cover the township’s, which has nearly 25,000 residents, $17.7 million 2011 budget.

The tax increase was approved by the five of the townships seven commissioners.

The township which has over 100 employees will not be laying anyone off, but is negotiating with township unions to try hammer out deal that will save the taxpayers money.

Upper Moreland is one of the few local communities that has its own trash collection vehicles and has a small number of salaried firefighters.
