Hatboro-Horsham Teachers Reject Deal

Members of the Hatboro-Horsham Education Association canceled a special meeting set for Monday and stopped months of work toward a contract resolution by voting against a proposed contract layout by the district.

Members of the association made up of Hatboro-Horsham teachers voted overwhelmingly 362-30 to reject the four year deal.

The contact proposal offered by the district, that educates over 5,000 students offered teachers a 3 percent salary increase, options for health care plans with low co-pays and an increase for hourly pay for the teachers who work after school events, summer school and home-bound instruction.

Hatboro-Horsham superintendent Curtis Griffin said in a letter released at the beginning the school year, “I am optimistic that we will identify a successful path toward a fair and equitable agreement,” so far that has not happened.
