Willow Grove Woman Charged With Faking Cancer; Charged With Scamming Parents

Alicia Tolton, 26, of the Willow Grove section of Upper Moreland, who made international headlines when it was discovered she faked claims that she was suffering from breast and ovarian cancer to make a quick buck is now facing more charges she opened credits cards in her parents name and took $24,293.

Court documents claim that Tolton took credit cards that were sent to her parents and faked being her mother in calls to the credit card company in the process withdrawing more than $24,000 in a nearly two month long period.

In her latest charges Tolton is accused of access device fraud, identification theft, unlawful use of a computer, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen goods, these charges are in addition the ones from her September arrest after it came to light she tried to hold a fund raiser for her cancer which she was faking.

Tolton’s father David is a volunteer and lifetime member of the Willow Grove Fire Department caught on to the scam when he found the bills in his daughters room in late September.

Tolton was first busted after she claimed to have cancer and even shaved her head and forged documents from the Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Two good hearted local women planned an October fund raising event titled “Wishes for Alicia”, police in Upper Moreland caught on to the scam before the fund raiser took place.

On her Myspace page Tolton list her occupation as a 911 dispatcher.

Tolton is being held in Montgomery County jail on $25,000 bail.
