Hatboro Police Kept Busy Monday Night

Monday night proved to be very busy for police, a gas station robbery and a knife attack happening less than a quarter mile away from each other, less than an hour part on York Road in the Hatboro’s business district.

7:42 p.m. York and Byberry Roads: Gas Station Robbery

Police tell The Intelligencer newspaper that a man wearing a flesh colored Halloween mask robbed the Sunoco gas station at York and Byberry Roads.

The robber did not show a weapon in the robbery but police tell the newspaper he had his hands in his pocket and the attendant assumed he was armed and turned the stations cash over to the robber.

After getting the undisclosed amount of cash the criminal took off running and Hatboro police called in a K-9 unit from Upper Moreland to aid in the search for the robber. The police and K-9 unit could not find the robber and police are still investigating trying to find out the criminals indentify.

8:30 p.m. York Road near DeLuca Music: Knife Attack

A brawl erupted around 8:30 p.m. outside the DeLuca Music Company on York Road in Hatboro Monday after a woman was threatened with a knife by a man who threatened her 14-year-old son, the woman’s husband attacked the man after he pulled the knife.

The Intelligencer newspaper reports that the attacker Kevin N. Sonnie, 31, who has no permanent residence and is considered a “transient”. Sonnie is being held in Montgomery County jail and is charged with felony assault and other related charges.

Police tell the newspaper that the 14-year-old boy was threatened by Sonnie, when the teen’s mother confronted him, he pulled a knife and began waving it. The woman’s husband arrived to see Sonnie pull the knife and acted by attacking Sonnie and received a slash wound from the knife during the scuffle.

The 14-year-old boy ran to father’s vehicle to pull a wrench which was used to subdue Sonnie.
